Friday 20th January – walks *** Landguard circuit including a picnic – frosty, sunny and cold with more wind.

Another frosty start but with a stronger breeze from a cold NW direction so had a morning at home doing my exercises. I then packed lunch and we drove down to Landguard Nature Reserve for a walk, some plonker had set-up a caravan on the road nearly blocking the entrance to the car park:( I took the big lens today but there was very little wildlife, very few birds just a few gulls, pigeons and crows with a handful of rabbits. We were sheltered from the wind until we reached the view where a large OLC container ship was tying up with the help of a couple of tugs. We then walked along the beach to the small wooden pier before tucking behind a concrete pill box out of the wind to have our cuppa soup and ryvita sandwich, we know how to live! We watched the roll on roll off ferry come into port before setting back along the beach to start as the tide was low, then along the wooden walkway and across the reserve, to be honest it was a little hard going with an achy knee and back, not helped by carrying my big lens! Then back home for a warming cuppa and shortbread biscuit. The cold weather seems to be with us for a few more days at least!
